Metro systems worldwide are undergoing a transformation, with passenger numbers increasing beyond original expectations and safety requirements being formalised across nations. Many systems have been in operation since the mid 1900s and are in need of upgrades. Extensions are being added, rolling stock is being replaced, signalling systems are going over to Moving Block and some systems are embracing partial driverless technology. All these factors increase pressure on training but reduce available time to train on the rail network. Avansim’s virtual training systems are stepping in to fill this gap. By creating a digital twin of an entire network with everything that populates it: vehicles, signals, stations and AI pedestrians, it provides a safe, consistent and readily available training environment.
